No visa requirements for Turkish self
AMSTERDAM - Turkish nationals who come to the Netherlands as an independent contractor, do not require visas.
According to a statement of the Foreign Chamber of the Court in Haarlem Monday.
The case was brought by a 39-year-old Turkish businessman. ''The ruling applies to every Turkish citizen without a visa to the Netherlands to locate here'', says Edjer Köse, a lawyer for the man. This is according Köse a result of the Treaty of Ankara.
1973
The court ruled that the Dutch authorities have not shown that the reference date of January 1, 1973 for a Turkish visa gold. Therefore,''now no visa will be requested from Turkish nationals'', says Köse.
According Köse, the court allows the first to implement a ruling by the European Court of Justice of 19 February 2009.
Objections
The now 39-year-old client Köse asked in 2000 for admission under the illegal white policy, but his request was rejected. In 2008 he submitted an application for the purpose of self-employment work in the Netherlands. That application was rejected.
According Köse the man was already living in the Netherlands and had a company. When, after a stay in Turkey without a visa returned to the Netherlands, he was stopped by military police. In contrast, he objected, the lawsuit against the Department of Immigration and Asylum due.
The parties may, within four weeks against the verdict in appeal.
